More Medical Madness

I came across a good site recently called PsychWatch Australia and two articles in particular caught my attention. One concerned the use of antidepressants by young people in Australia and another related to their use of ADHD medications.

Let's review their use of antidepressants first:
From 2008-09 to 2017-18, the proportion of Australians aged 0 to 27 using antidepressants grew from about 2.9% to 4.8%. Australian Government figures indicate 101,174 children (under 18) and 328,879 young adults (aged 18 to 27) were dispensed an antidepressant in 2017/18.  Antidepressants are not approved for the treatment of depression in people under 18 and it is particularly concerning that so many Australian children have been prescribed them. The news regarding use and abuse of ADHD medications is no better:

In 2009, according to the Australian Government data 60,931 children were dispensed at least one prescription of an ADHD medication (primarily amphetamines). In 2017 the latest year for which age specific data is available this number had risen to 107,345. Since then (from January 2018 until September 2019) the total number of Australian PBS subsidised prescriptions has risen at 11% per annum. Based on this rate of growth, it is estimated that more than 130,000 Australian children will be dispensed an ADHD medication in 2019. In summary, from 2009 until 2019, the percentage of Australian children aged 4-17 years dispensed ADHD drugs has grown from 1.6% to an estimated 3.0%. Source.

The message is clear enough. More and more young Australians are on antidepressants or ADHD medications or both than ever before. The figures for older Australians are equally disturbing. See Figure 3.

Of most concern of course are the growing numbers of young Australians on these drugs because it is likely that their drug-taking will continue for the rest of their lives. The figures for 2020 are likely to be much worse of course and so the future looks grim. The solid citizens of tomorrow will be more medicated, more vaccinated, more indoctrinated and more gender-confused than ever before, and easily manipulated and controlled.

Figure 4 shows a little cartoon that I modified to illustrate the situation:
